Overview

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to take a pro-active role in the supply chain processes to deliver quality products to agreed specifications. You will need to have a full clean driving licence with your own vehicle as some travel is required for this role (travel expenses will be paid). Security clearance is also a prerequisite. Responsibilities • Provide data, analysis and feedback on issues, trends and actions, ensuring that actions are prioritised and progressed through robust root-cause analysis, corrective and preventative action, to sustainable and cost-effective solutions • Review and suggest process improvements with external suppliers to ensure products are manufacturable on a continuous basis with respect to quality, yield and capability • Ensure that all suppliers that manufacture custom parts or assemblies have a documented quality control plan that is adhered to • Support specific process improvement projects within the company or agree a suitable existing project to deliver the improvements • Carry out process and capability audits of suppliers in accordance with ISO9001:2015 • Specific monitoring of key suppliers as required in order to maintain external certification - ensure any non-conformities are addressed within timescales agreed • Work cross-functionally to root cause issues that lead to: - poor returns data attributed to supply chain issues - customer issues with respect to supply chain • Monitor suppliers of critical/single source components, conducting regular inspection/tool life calculation, recommending remedial action or replacement where necessary • Provide "troubleshooting" expertise - managing critical supply chain issues Requirements • Minimum HNC in Electronic/Mechanical engineering or 5 years' experience in a similar role • Proven experience in management of an international, technically orientated supply chain • Experience in an engineering-based quality role; supplier quality, product and process audit, SPC and data analysis • Experience with internal and external audits • Good level of understanding of best practices across industries and how to apply relevant scalable processes • In depth knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing processes and control; Surface Mount Assembly, injection moulding (PC & TPE), mechanical assembly and inspection • Proven ability to communicate in a variety of formats with an appreciation of target audience • A passion for Quality, whilst having commercial feet firmly on the ground • Extensive people and relationship management skills • Process oriented • Ability to liaise with a cross functional organisation • Confidence and experience to travel unaccompanied to varied geographical regions and cultures • Flexible with the ability to travel internationally for up to 2 weeks at a time, sometimes at short notice The following would be a distinct advantage: • Experience working with Asian suppliers • ISO9001:2015 audit experience • Knowledge and practical use of six sigma methodology and tools to improve manufacturing processes (six sigma Yellow belt)
