Overview
Role Description For the role the primary requirement is knowledge and experience of bidding and implementing capability upgrades to the Tornado platform. It is key that the role holder manages the interfaces with the E&I Shared Service and Control Account Managers (CAMs). The success of the role will be obtaining the required inputs in a timely manner such that they can be integrated to deliver the required solution. In undertaking this the post holder will manage and complete own engineering/sub-contractors/suppliers tasks as delegated, within an interdisciplinary team in a professional manner, and to provide technical engineering support and advice to the wider team. The post holder will report directly to the Tornado Capability Sustainment Engineering Manager. The post holder may also be required to assist the Engineering Manager with engineering management activities across his area of responsibility. The roleSenior Systems , however, their main focus is on the delivery of the engineering solution. Although this post is based at Warton, the post holder will be expected to occasionally travel to KSA and UK suppliers as part of their duties and responsibilities. Qualification and Experience Typically degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, plus 6 years relevant experience Meets the requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and preferably is a member of a relevant professional body Typically experienced in product and service integration and at least one engineering domain, with knowledge of associated or contributory domains Considerable experience in more than one phase of the lifecycle and significant understanding of the nature of the work in all phases, especially with regard to through life engineering issues Experience of technical discussions and commercial contact with customers, partners and suppliers Extensive understanding of engineering and quality standards Works at a level which enables the individual to achieve chartered status Typical Responsibilities Undertake own engineering activities and provide day-to-day engineering guidance to a team, making engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority. Develop and launch packages of work onto the E&I Shared Services and Control Account Managers (CAMs). Pro-actively manage E&I Shared Services and CAMs to ensure the defined deliverables are provided to the agreed schedule. Integrate internal and supplier deliverable into an overall engineering delivery schedule. Produce plans that deliver and monitor delivery against plans to ensure all requirements are met and that actions are taken in a timely and effective manner in response to any issues or problems. Manage own elements of engineering work package(s), ensuring requirements are delivered to plan and specification. Manage ITAR as required to ensure Export Control issues do not impact Engineering's ability to implement the projects Contribute to team planning, risk management, and quality and safety to support the effective functioning of the team. Provide support to the team in matters of technical understanding and in areas of own expertise. Oversee and manage the work of sub-contractors, including visiting contractual premises to ensure that all contractual outcomes are delivered in line with agreements; resolving or escalating issues in a timely and effective manner. Participate fully in design reviews to ensure that designs meet contractual requirements. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements.
