About the area you'll be working in You will be joining a brand new and growing People Governance and Risk Function to work in the leafy Angel Court location. As part of the UK Support functions, they are the backbone of our UK operations. We may not deal directly with our customers, but we play a vital role in making sure that our customer-facing teams get the support they need to deliver to the highest professional standards. What you'll be doing The Senior Compliance and Governance Manager is a diverse role and this makes it a really interesting one with a fantastic opportunity to make your mark You will work across the Bupa organisation, building solid relationships, developing your internal and external network and supporting our most senior leaders as they discharge their regulatory accountabilities. Yours is an influencing role. One where your experience and skills will help us set up our new 'centre of people regulatory expertise' . What's a typical day? We'd like to think each day will be different - but here's a taster: Being a subject matter expert you will be developing the knowledge and skills of others as you deliver technical regulatory advice Helping us build, then maintain, our SMCR Target Operating Model and ensuring our compliance with the SMCR Guiding the approval and notification processes for all new senior appointments including certification processes and overseeing fit and proper checks Being a key 'go to' person to People Directors, People Operational teams and other stakeholders across Bupa. Imparting advice and helping people do their jobs compliantly and well Undertaking 1st line assurance activities to safeguard our regulatory responsibilities within the SMCR and other regulatory initiatives Supporting the Compliance teams with their regulatory requirements including Conduct Rule breach reporting to the regulators Responsibilities will include drafting, collating and preparing regulatory application packs and associated documentation for Compliance review and submission to regulators Providing technical regulatory input, support and advice on a whole range of areas including: regulatory references, management responsibility maps, statement of responsibility (SoR), job descriptions, contracts, handover arrangements and duty of responsibility Taking ownership and maintaining SMCR populations ensuring that new or changing roles are identified and supported Who we're looking for? Someone with expert knowledge of the SMCR requirements and its implementation within the FS Sector You will be a compliance professional and be able to demonstrate your ability to work with senior stakeholders We'd expect that you come from an insurance broking or insurance environment or have worked in a highly-regulated FS regulated business environment You will be fluent in the FCA/PRA requirements with an ability to analyse regulations and assess their impact on the business We'd expect you to be an influencer and able to form strong stakeholder relationships. Using your skills you will help Bupa deliver strong regulatory outcomes and robust working practices You will deploy your strong communication skills to build capability within the People community and help colleagues understand the importance of regulation and how it touches our everyday lives Whether you've found your feet or are discovering a new path.
