Database Administrator - DBA, SQL DBA, Microsoft SQL, SSIS/SSRS Our leading law firm client are looking to recruit a Database Administrator (DBA, SQL DBA, Microsoft SQL, SSIS/SSRS) on a permanent basis to be accountable for ensuring that the firms SQL estate offers a reliable, highly available experience. Reporting to the Enterprise and Systems Data Manager, the Database Administrator (DBA, SQL DBA, Microsoft SQL, SSIS/SSRS) will be responsible for the data that underpins the firm's enterprise systems. Including the strategy change and operation of this. The Database Administrator (DBA, SQL DBA, Microsoft SQL, SSIS/SSRS) will be responsible for Disaster Recovery and data integration strategies. Utilising tools from within the Microsoft SQL stack as well as 3rd party solutions. Specific areas of responsibility: Enterprise Systems Alongside the Enterprise and Data Systems Manager develop and deliver a Data roadmap that aligns to the Technology strategy and ensures all systems and applications are continuously improved and meet the evolving needs of the firm. Understand and know the Microsoft SQL roadmap and the required architecture to deliver an optimum user experience. Understand how this will evolve over time and identify and mitigate risks that could impact user experience in the future. Ensure the SQL estate is stable and performant, correctly monitored and supported. Manage a feature enhancement and defect back log for the data estate. Work with product owners both within Enterprise Systems and outside of it to ensure upgrades and enhancements are delivered in a timely manner and follow Technology best practice, e.g. submitting detailed change requests and informing Support teams. Identify opportunities to upgrade, migrate to SaaS or fully replace systems that are not meeting service or business expectations. Build strong trusted relationships with strategic vendors Effective problem management of data issues. Develop a BI, data integration and reporting strategy that meets the evolving needs of the firm and encompasses the broad spectrum of different business service departments data repositories Lead the People Data project. A programme of work designed to integrate people data across the data estate. Including identifying master data repositories, integrations and data flows. Design, scope and plan the Client and Matter Data Project. Identifying master data repositories, integrations and data flows. Where possible, introduce automations to improve the quality of data throughout the firm. Ensure the database server estate is implemented in a best practice manner so that it is robust, resilient and high available. Advise and lead in a data migration strategy to the cloud ensuring that data remains highly available. Experience required for this Database Administrator (DBA, SQL DBA, Microsoft SQL, SSIS/SSRS): Proven track record of managing a SQL estate Deep understanding of the Microsoft SQL suite Experience of designing and implementing SSIS/SSRS solutions Experience of applying ITIL best practices to key processes, including problem management. Experience of working with cloud based solutions (preferred) Experience of working in legal sector (preferred). Experience of Power BI, or a keenness to utilise it is desired.
