The Beacon Centre Chemotherapy Day Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital is a dynamic, forward thinking and progressive nurse led unit. As part of the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey, the Beacon Centre was ranked third in the country for overall patient experience. We pride ourselves on providing excellent patient centred care whilst optimising the best outcomes for our patients. We ensure that all patients throughout Somerset requiring Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment receive a high standard of care from point of diagnosis to completion of treatment and beyond. Continued expansion of the unit provides rapid and professional progression opportunities for staff to develop further and enhance their skills. We have a fantastic opportunity for Registered Nurses with a can-do attitude to join our team. We are a positive unit who strive to create a calm environment for our patients during a difficult time in their lives. Your main role will encompass the delivery of care for patients who are undergoing treatment for cancer and require support with the management of side effects from treatment, either chemotherapy or radiotherapy, and delivering care related to symptom management due to the underlying disease, we use a multi-disciplinary approach to deliver patient centred care. Ideally, you will bring experience of working in a fast-paced environment and have the confidence to deal with challenging and sometimes emotional situations. We are an inclusive department which will provide you with the necessary training and development to enhance your skills to deliver optimum patient centred care, along with developing you as an individual to succeed well in all aspects of your role. You will have the opportunity to become a link nurse for specific cancer sites and attend study to learn more.
