Exciting Contract position for a senior transport planner Your new company Hays are currently working alongside a market leading consultancy in the Derbyshire Area who are currently recruiting for a senior transport planner to make an immediate start within their transport department. Your new role As a Principal Transport Planner you will be involved in a variety of project types for a range of private sector clients, all of which will require you to exercise your technical knowledge and liaise with Local Planning/Highway Authorities, Highways England and other professionals such as Planning Consultants, Architects, Air Quality/Noise Consultants, M&E Engineers, etc on a daily basis.Reporting to an Associate Director, you will have to opportunity to lead your own projects and/or work within multidisciplinary teams on larger proposals to administer, produce and deliver projects effectively to strict deadlines, whilst maintaining high technical performance standards. You will provide multi-faceted advice ranging from initial pre-acquisition feasibility studies, to strategic advice, Local Plan site promotion, to preparation of outline & detailed planning application reports (including Transport Assessments/Statements, Travel Plans, Environmental Statement Transport Chapters, preliminary access/junction improvement designs), to discharge of planning conditions and planning appeals.The main emphasis of your role will be on the technical delivery of projects and technical development of T&T staff, including use of key transport modelling software including Junctions 9, LinSig, TRICS, TEMPro/NTEM (experience of micro-simulation software such as VISSIM or Paramics is welcome, but not essential) What you'll need to succeed To work as part of a team delivering high quality transport planning, modelling and technical reports, and (where necessary) engineering designs/drawingsTo comply with Company Health & Safety policies at all timesSupervision of staff, review, check and approve design calculations, drawings and outputs prepared by othersProject administration, including: Preparation of fee proposals Production of all outputs in accordance with the Company's document management systems Client & Local Authority LiaisonTo develop and maintain high technical standards both personally and within the T&T Department through application of current industry "best practice" and new technical innovationsTo develop and maintain an effective network of Client contactsEnsure delivery of high quality and profitable T&T services to Clients and where possible resolve operational, technical and financial issues in collaboration with other relevant senior staffIn addition to the above, a successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a number of competencies, as detailed below High level of technical competence, including advanced knowledge of key transport software packages such as Junctions 9 (PICADY/ARCADY), LinSig, TRICS, TEMPro/NTEMExcellent numeracy and analytical skills - advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and awareness of Census data sources/analysisExcellent knowledge of national/local design standards e.g. DMRB, MFS 1 & 2, CIHT Policies/Guidance, Local Authority Design Guides e.g. 6C's;Excellent report writing - advanced knowledge of Microsoft WordExcellent knowledge of the English planning system and workings of Local GovernmentExperienced user of AutoCAD & vehicle tracking softwareHealth & Safety awareness - CDM regulationsStaff management, team working & communication skills High level of technical competence, including advanced knowledge of key transport software packages such as Junctions 9 (PICADY/ARCADY), LinSig, TRICS, TEMPro/NTEMExcellent numeracy and analytical skills - advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and awareness of Census data sources/analysisExcellent knowledge of national/local design standards e.g. DMRB, MFS 1 & 2, CIHT Policies/Guidance, Local Authority Design Guides e.g. 6C's;Excellent report writing - advanced knowledge of Microsoft WordExcellent knowledge of the English planning system and workings of Local GovernmentExperienced user of AutoCAD & vehicle tracking softwareHealth & Safety awareness - CDM regulationsStaff management, team working & communication skills What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
