Overview

Poultry Farm Area Manager My client is a successful agricultural business in the poultry industry with rearing, breeding, hatching and growing operations throughout the UK. This role requires previous experience as a poultry farm manager and will be managing 6 farms across the Spalding area Key Role Objective Effective Management of allocated farms taking into account all Company Policies, Procedures and Health and Safety Requirements. Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities · Responsible for the day to day operational requirements for allocated farms reporting any major issues to Line Manager in a timely manner · Responsible for monitoring bird performance and welfare ensuring the highest standards of health and welfare are maintained at all times · Responsible for all Health and Safety standards and requirements, ensuring day to day operational compliance · Responsible for undertaking annual Health and Safety Audits on allocated farms with Farm Manager identifying issues / faults and ensure remedial action is taken in a timely manner · Undertake Red Tractor and Environmental Pre-Audits as necessary · Communicate effectively with employee on allocated farms and deal with any operational difficulties or emergencies that may arise advising Line Manager when deemed appropriate · Monitor maintenance requirements of farms and ensure correct maintenance is carried out in a timely manner with particular emphasis on adherence to strict bio-security measures · Ensure farms have sufficient supplies of feed, relevant vaccine and medication for identified Medication Programme and farms follow identified Medication Programme · Ensure site security is strictly enforced and maintained at all times in all operational locations · Ensure all required operational paperwork i.e. feed and ventilation programmes, crop charts, salmonella, swabs, water samples, post mortem, scripts and any other supporting literature is available, and archived where appropriate, filed in a legible format. · Contribute information to enable employee appraisals to be meaningful · Support sickness, grievance and disciplinary action in line with guidance from HR Department · Monitor employee costs, overtime and bonus payments · Monitor staff rest days, holidays and working hours ensuring they comply with legal requirements · Continuously review operations to improve best practice · Provide holiday / sickness cover for Line Manager as required · Undertake any other duties as required to fulfil the needs of the position · Attend training courses which are determined as appropriate by the Company Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience · Solve problems, plan, organise and prioritise duties and responsibilities · Communicate effectively. Express yourself clearly to others at a level they will understand. Pass on information clearly and effectively, and adapt your communication style to influence others · Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety, and ability to demonstrate this within your day to day duties · Ability to correctly interpret legally imposed rules and regulations in order to protect the integrity, reputation and marketplace standing of the Company · Ability and desire to work co-operatively with others as part of a team, providing opportunities for everyone to participate within the team, ensuring that all team members are treated fairly · Ability to maintain confidentiality · Demonstrate support for innovation and for organisational changes needed to improve the Company's effectiveness, including taking the lead where necessary · Responsibility for own performance and also employees' performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress and ensuring feedback.
