Senior Treaty Reinsurance Broker (Manager)

Aston Charles Ltd ,
London, Greater London
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £60,000 per annum

Overview

With a fine reputation for crafting its clients bespoke and innovative solutions, this specialist firm has established itself as the 'go to’ broker for small, medium and large insurers alike. Its client list includes prestigious Direct Insurers, Mutual Insurers, Takaful Companies and Mutual Companies, amongst others. This role is the brainchild of the CEO, one of the market’s great entrepreneurs of recent years. He has identified that further promoting its established Treaty offering as crucial in the development of the brokerage in the forthcoming years. As such, this is a high-profile role where your successes will be visible to your colleagues and the market in general. Sitting on the senior team of this flat management-structure business, you will have a real say in the future direction of the Treaty Division, including setting strategy, partnerships and managing key relationships. Needless to say, you will benefit from the opportunity to undertake extensive international travel. As this is a key role for the coming years, the CEO will grant you a great deal of autonomy in regards to how your role and the shape of the department develops. As such, the finer points of the role can be tweaked to suit your skills, experience and ambitions. However, it is anticipated that you will assume responsibility for acting as primary point of contact for all large and complex enquiries (as well as those arising with key partners). With your colleagues, you will advise your clients as to the market’s appetite for specific risks (and associated capacity and pricing implications), and help design an appropriate programme. As the Senior Treaty Reinsurance Broker / Manager you will help promote the brokerage in the market, and act as a technical referral point for colleagues from across the business in regards to enquiries. It is essential that you have detailed knowledge of the Treaty market, including significant experience of dealing with the Lloyd’s market, and ideally a range of networks across the global insurance network. It is by no means essential that you have previously held a 'Senior’ / 'Head of’ style position - what is more important is that you have the personality, gravitas and knowledge to be confident in making a success of this role, and that you share this business’ entrepreneurial approach. Needless to say, being multilingual and well-travelled would add significant value to your application, but this is by no means essential. In return, you will be invited to help design your own remuneration package, including a basic salary with no realistic upper limit, lucrative bonus and executive-level benefits. For the ambitious, you really are the master of your own destiny in terms of opportunity for progression in the short, medium and longer-term.
