Job Title: Graduate Electronics Engineer Job Type: Graduate position - Permanent Hours: 37 per week Job Location: Buxton As a Graduate Certification Engineer (Intrinsic Safety) you will be responsible for providing a technical service on behalf of SGS Baseefa to customers who have applied for certificates confirming compliance of equipment with various published standards. These standards relate to the testing and certification of equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres. Key Accountabilities Assess the design of and examine and test prototype equipment in accordance with requirements in published standards and relevant procedure documents. Prepare assessment, certification, examination or test reports in accordance with the relevant procedure documents. Assess any drawing, photographic and/or descriptive documentation required to completely specify the equipment for compliance with the relevant standards. Prepare Certificates to describe in sufficient detail the equipment being certified, together with any acceptable variations in the design, including reference to any assessed documentation. Communicate with and, when necessary, have face to face discussions with manufacturers or their agents. Estimate the cost of carrying out an assessment, testing and/or certification exercise. Specify the sample equipment, together with any special requirements necessary to enable the complete assessment, testing and/or certification exercise to be carried out. Provide specialist advice and guidance to government departments and to manufacturers and users of equipment of a type which may be subject to certification by SGS Baseefa. Checking and countersigning the work of others in specific areas of work. Participate directly, or through provision of advice to other SGS Baseefa staff, in BSI, CEN/CENELEC and IEC standards making activities. Advise and liaise with test and certification subcontractors. Evaluate subcontractors and providers of test information. Write papers, give lectures and lead technical workshops on behalf of SGS Baseefa. Provide in-post training and instruction for assigned staff. As a Graduate Certification Engineer (Intrinsic Safety), you’ll receive a salary between £20,000 and £26,000, depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus, retail discount scheme, private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover. YOUR PROFILE Skills / Experience: · General engineering background reflected in work experience or qualifications. · Clear written English applied in the drafting of reports and certificates. · Personal time management to enable the handling of multiple projects for multiple customers simultaneously to achieve delivery within time and cost constraints. Qualifications: · Educated to A Level standard and currently working towards a Degree Level qualification in a Electronics discipline.
