Axcis Education are seeking support workers for various roles in central Bristol and South Bristol. We are looking for individuals who have the enthusiasm and empathy to support young adults with learning disabilities, autism and Downs Syndrome in their homes in a supported living environment. The role of the support worker is a vital part of developing any service user to become independent within their own homes. A support worker is a key part in enriching the lives of young adults with additional needs and to allow them to flourish within themselves and the community. Your role as a support worker will include: To provide high quality, person-centered care involving a broad range of often complex social, emotional and recreational needs, recognising the potential of each Service User and to promote through actions and words the achievement of that potential including working as part of a team. To meet the individual care and support needs of Service Users using the service in a way that promotes, dignity, privacy, safety and independence. To ensure the effective use of resources in providing this care and support Skills and Requirements: You will, ideally, have already achieved a Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (adults) or equivalent but this is not essential. You will preferably hold a current driving license, be able to remain calm in difficult situations. You will be providing service users with a structured programme of care, vocational, social and independence training, with the object of building up and repairing damaged confidence, and increasing their self-discipline and self-advocacy skills. In turn, enabling those you support to make better decisions and have a greater control over the direction of their lives.
