Senior Scala Data Engineer - remote London - working from home currently Up to £90,000 package This role is for a Senior Data Engineer to build a data platform using Scala, Spark, AWS and Kafka. You will be in responsible for the design and development of an enterprise data platform. The Company This company were formed in 2006 and were built to disrupt two markets - the insurance industry and the comparison industry. Since being formed, they have always been cutting edge with data. They were on of the first adopters of a Cloudera Hadoop platform, being moving to a scala/spark architecture and have since moved to AWS and Kafka. The Role As the Senior Data Engineer, you will: Lead the development of the next gen data platform. Play a key role in the development of the core data platform, mainly using scala. Take an active role in the team's engineering culture and quality assurance - eg using TDD, code reviews, paired programming etc. Require Skills & Experience As the Senior Data Engineer, you will have: Strong experience in Data Engineering Experience in Scala, Spark, Python, AWS platform Have a growth mindset Thrives in a fast-paced digital environment Customer and quality focused (Agile, CI/CD and TDD/BDD approach) Active learner, keeps up to date with industry knowledge and keen to learn new languages and tools Experience leading other Data Engineers KEYWORDS Scala, AWS, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, TDD
