ABOUT US We are Tate & Lyle Sugars part of the ASR Group, our companies have more than 150 years of experience taking sugar cane from the field to the table. Our expertise in every aspect of the cane sugar process is without equal. We are the largest vertically integrated cane sugar refiner in the world. Our nine refineries are found in five countries across the globe and collectively can produce more than six million tons of sugar. We also own and operate sugar mills in the United States, Mexico and Belize. This position is based in our iconic refinery based in East London. ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Packing Operations Manager, the successful candidate will undertake a Packing Engineer graduate training program. The job holder will learn about and obtain a broad experience of the manufacturing process and our business generally. Very quickly, the Packing Graduate position will then be required to contribute a high level of energy to the execution and continuous improvement of the packing process, based on their learning and experiences.Success in this role is based upon being able to demonstrate clear value to the business by executing against key objectives. Other duties include: Work on optimisation projects to provide continuous improvements in safety, hygiene, quality and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) performance. Gain experience of supervising packing operations. Provide cover for supervisors and managers where appropriate. Evaluate new product development (NPD) and packing equipment investment opportunities. To participate in equipment/line upgrades and installations ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required specification. Develop projects to reduce packing over-weights, packing material wastage and re-melt. To work alongside the engineering team to ensure correct and relevant engineering documentation is available. To use knowledge and experience to avoid, anticipate and deal with engineering problems. To assist the maintenance team ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out efficiently. To maintain high quality and safety standards at all times ABOUT YOU You will have the ability to anticipate operational needs, issues and problems and be proactive in addressing such needs. The ideal candidate will have great analytical skills with the ability to analyse information and make deductions based on information. Ability to track and report data, as needed and a high level of attention to detail. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, our new graduate will have a high degree of personal integrity in all business dealings and will exude high positive energy to take on continuous business challenges in a fast-paced environment. Persistence and determination to drive to solutions despite obstacles and/or competing priorities You will be proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) control systems and preferably some SAP knowledge. Well organised, ambitious, courageous, flexible but decisive, with the ability to communicate and effectively influence others. Adept to problem solve,to frame clear problem statements and use objective information/data to help solve complex business challenges and generate options and solutions. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Educated to degree standard with relevant degree pass in Mechanical, Chemistry or Process Engineering or other relevant discipline.
