Overview

Based in Haddenham, reporting to Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for governance of Quality Systems (QS) and food safety (FS) programmes within a manufacturing site to ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, customer & third-party requirements. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Provide governance and lead proactive continuous improvement of quality systems (and all related documentation), food safety, food defence and relevant QS/FS training programmes to meet McCormick customer and third-party audit standards. Implement Quality and Food Safety policies set by on-site Corporate and provide support for the development and continuous improvement of these policies. Manage the HACCP programme for the site, ensuring that HACCP studies are reviewed and updated on a regular basis and that an audit schedule is in place to ensure compliance. Responsible for the management of the internal audit programmes and pro-actively leading continuous improvements where necessary. Publish Quality and Food Safety KPI’s, scorecards, trending data and conducting routine analysis. Responsible for the management of all technical third party and customer audit programmes. Manage corrective action programmes to ensure appropriate handling, response and resolution of internal and external audits. Identify and implement continuous improvement to the programs to prevent recurrence of issues. Provide QS/FS governance and Technical support to projects undertaken in the plant, including installations, modification of equipment, buildings and processes. Provide QS/FS governance and support to further enhance the food safety and quality culture on site. Deputise as appropriate, for the Quality Manager during absence and holidays, including leading Incident/Crisis Management if required. Primary site contact for Customer and regulatory matters pertaining to Quality and Food Safety. CANDIDATE PROFILE Educated to HND level or equivalent, preferably Graduate in Microbiology or Food Science/Technology. Recognised Qualification in Food Safety/Quality Systems Management or Auditing. Advanced HACCP level 3 minimum Demonstratable experience working within the Food Industry at management level. Proven influencing skills, preferably in a factory-based environment. Experienced in leading and managing Food Safety & Quality System programmes in compliance with food industry standards and Customer/Third Party audit requirements. Practical knowledge of industry audit standards (e.g. BRC, AIB). Practical experience in managing and implementing HACCP systems, Pest control, Allergen management, Environmental Monitoring and RCA & CAPA management. Lead Auditor qualifications and experience. Experience in dealing with major industrial and/or retail customers Ability to effectively conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventative action plans. PC literate (working knowledge of SAP would be beneficial, but not essential). Strong interpersonal skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
