Trainee Reporter The Scarborough News Closing date: March 20th 2020 Are you a talented trainee journalist looking to make your first move into a newsroom? Do you already have an eye for a story, understand what would drive traffic to our websites, know how to optimise content for search and social, thrive on the buzz of meeting deadlines, and excel as an accurate storyteller? Will you complete your NCTJ preliminary examinations before summer? If you can say yes to our questions, we will try to meet your expectations too. The Scarborough News is enjoying a surge in web traffic - consistently exceeding its online targets, and is one of the largest weekly print titles within JPIMedia. Scarborough was Britain's first seaside resort, and still draws in millions of visitors, with its beautiful scenery and unique attractions. Also lured here are some of the biggest acts in music, to Europe's largest open air theatre. We offer excellent training and support, through formal workshops and in-house mentoring from some of the most experienced journalists in Yorkshire. Trainees within JPIMedia Yorkshire weeklies receive an excellent grounding in all the core skills, which means we have an enviable track record of NQJ success.
