Overview

Senior Ruby on Rails Developer Salary: £50,000 - 65,000 Location: Remote (UK based) Did you know that over a third of all food produced and purchased globally ends up getting chucked in the bin? In the UK, we end up spending about 800 quid a year (avg. per household) on food that we won’t bother eating - globally it’s something along the lines of £765,925,000,000. If you weighed it all, that’s about 1.3 billion tonnes. I reckon you could feed quite a few people with that, don’t you? The more you look into it, the more you realise that food waste - both globally and in the UK - is a massive problem. It’s not all doom and gloom though Over 81% of us would be quite happy to accept food from a neighbour, and there’s a start-up that are using that figure to get more and more people involved in sharing food that would have otherwise gone to waste. They've grown organically (obviously) over the last 5 years, and now have over 1.7 million users. That’s 1.7 million people all doing their bit to get rid of food waste, and they can do it all with a few clicks on their phone They’ve got big plans, and new features in the works that’ll make it even easier for their users to make a difference, but at the moment it’s very much a small team, and they’ve realised they need to grow to get stuff done. That’s what they need you. A senior Ruby on Rails dev who wants to make a difference and would quite fancy being part of something awesome. They’re a friendly bunch, and as you can imagine everyone in the team is passionate about making the world a better place to be, so if you’re someone that really cares about this stuff you’ll be right at home (literally - they’re a remote first company). If you’ve got a great grasp of Ruby on Rails, know how to look at things with a DevOps mindset (they use AWS), and have a knack for solving tricky problems that often present themselves in weird and unexpected ways, then you’re just what they need.
