Overview
Company We're working with a market leading technology business based in the centre of Newcastle. With a well established suite of products they are looking to recruit an experienced development manager who can help to add new features, coach/mentor the team and drive the technology roadmap. Role As Software Development Manager you will lead a team of 8 software developers responsible for delivering world class products and services. You will be working on a number of our software engineering initiatives which will primarily involve: Building robust products in modern JavaScript or .NET frameworks Bringing a continuous improvement mindset to our engineering processes Ensuring we deliver working software regularly in line with product roadmaps Upholding a strong engineering culture within the development team You can expect to spend time coordinating your teams work with Product Managers and UX Designers as well as mentoring software developers to improve their technical skills. Person Candidates will need a mix of technical and people skills. Ideally you will have strong Javascript skills as a number of future projects involve Node and React based development. You should be comfortable performing code reviews, pair programming with junior developers who need assistance and getting involved in the architectural design of products. In addition you will be responsible for resource planning, ensuring best practice is adhered to, mentoring the development team. Candidates with previous experience working in a software "product" based environment with an ability to prioritise work based on the commercial value would be particularly of interest.
