Role: Young Persons Support Worker (Waking Nights) Location: Blandford Forum, Dorset Salary: £18,564, rising to £19,066 after completing probation (£21,158 if you have an NVQ3) Hours: 4 x 12 hour shifts, 4 x days off. Rotating shift pattern (8pm-8am) About The Organisation We are a specialised school who supports young people, aged 7-19, with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or complex learning needs. Our students have full access to the National Curriculum and are taught by our friendly and caring Teachers in an array of ways, which is adapted to the needs, and personalities of our students. The majority of our students reside with us in our 24-hour care residential homes whereby they are surrounded by our passionate team and are supported to live their life to the full safely and happily. What Does A Night Support Worker do? As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will be vital in ensuring our students are happy, comfortable and safe throughout the night. At the start of your shift you may engage in evening activities with our students and will support them where needed in them settling and getting ready for bed. By promoting a healthy sleeping pattern, you will voice the importance of a good night’s sleep and will aim to provide our students with the help they need in achieving this. As a passionate and caring individual, you will check regularly on the students to ensure they are happy and will be happy to assist with any situations that arise during the night. In the quiet times of the night, you may be asked to do basic domestic duties to ensure our students are living in a tidy and clean home. In the morning our students will need support getting ready for the day ahead upon which you will be at hand to help with. As an individual who promotes hygiene and comfort among our students you will need to be comfortable with personal care when working with our students. In your first two weeks you will have MAPA training, Autism training and will be given the tools and guidance on how to do your role safely and appropriately. We will then provide you with the chance to shadow shift to witness and build upon the skills you will develop in this role. We do this to ensure you are happy and feel well supported in your role. We will support you with training and qualifications Some understanding of Autism will be beneficial. You don’t need to drive but it is beneficial as we are based in the countryside.
