The Role: Port Manager; South West (Plymouth & Teignmouth) Purpose: Reporting to the Divisional Ports Manager East Wales and South West, the Port Manager; South West will be responsible for the safe, efficient and customer focused, day to day delivery of all port operations for both Plymouth and Teignmouth. Accountabilities : · Delivering safe, efficient operational performance · Identify opportunities for service improvement – and then deliver them for the customer · Partner with the Commercial team to achieve strategic commercial objectives, developing growth through a service culture designed to maximise opportunities and enhance the customer experience. · Continually seek new development opportunities for the Region’s portfolio to maximise revenue and service levels through creative and entrepreneurial initiatives. · Build effective relationships and engages with people at all levels, in line with ABP's vision, values and overall business strategy to further develop and enhance the Region’s culture. · Support employees with identified talent to realise and achieve their full potential within the company Produces outstanding results both professionally and personally by directing and overseeing all Port services in accordance with strategic objectives. Effectively plans, budgets, tracks, evaluates and drives business performance. · Achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement by setting stretching team goals, delivering high quality communication, planning, analysis, decision making and project management. Adapts and copes successfully with changing operational circumstances. · Deliver a sustainable platform for the Region by ensuring health, safety, environmental and compliance strategies are aligned to Port operations. · Drive, communicate and align the safety strategy by delivering measurable cultural, behavioural and procedural improvements in Health and Safety performance. Skills, Experience & Qualifications: Essential · Proven track record of working at a similar level within an Operational/Logistical environment, ideally leading multi-site, multi-disciplined teams · Demonstrable collaborative commercial acumen · A track record of collaborative working cross functionally, as well as with your own teams · Track record of generating and then analysing data to drive performance improvements including the setting of KPIs and SLAs · Proven skills and evidence of developing people · Able to work flexibly including ability to support the operation 24/7 · Excellent communication skills · Strong understanding of budget setting / P&L performance · Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise accordingly · Full Driving License Ideal · Educated to degree level or equivalent · Port/Maritime experience · Bulk, Ro-Ro or general cargo handling experience · Project management experience Additional Information: When joining ABP you will find an environment that is both welcoming and challenging.
