Overview
Orka Financial is currently partnering with a successful business based in Reading that is looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join the team. The role reports into the Financial Controller and has responsibility for; Preparing month end accounts and group submissions for monthly results, reforecasting and budgeting, producing month end accounts and business support, owning of a balance sheet pack including reconciliations, responsible for HMRC returns and acting at the point of contact for the auditors to help to ensure a smooth audit process. This role would also involve ensuring there are adequate control measures are in place to produce accurate monthly results and suggesting areas for continuous improvement. Duties will include; Submission of monthly results, reforecast and budget into group Producing a monthly balance sheet pack including own reconciliations and reconciliations produced by other finance staff. Maintaining control and investigating any queries and old balances to ensure a clean balance sheet. Preparation of monthly UK VAT return, bi-monthly Irish VAT return, monthly Intrastat and EC Sales submissions and validating bi-monthly duty submissions. Responsible for setting up new GL codes in the finance system and linking into reporting. Running month end reports to feed into monthly reporting pack and investigating any discrepancies. Working with the Financial Controller on the interim and year-end audit and preparation of the statutory accounts. Supporting the Financial Controller in identifying and rectifying areas of weak control, implementing solutions as appropriate and providing ad hoc support The role requires a qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA) and would suit someone who is looking to make their first move out of practice into industry. Strong experience in VAT/EC Sales/Intrastat is also required. You will have sound experience in financial accounting.
