Overview

Data Warehouse Engineer - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract (Wales) What you’ll do As a Data Warehouse Engineer (BI) you will be responsible for working in a small Applications team to develop top-to-bottom BI cloud hosted system solutions, with a specialty in ETL development and support using Microsoft SSIS and T-SQL. You will perform all development tasks for ETLs, including gathering ETL requirements; doing ETL design, coding, and testing; creating any necessary documentation; performing ETL deployments; and supporting live ETLs. You will also work alongside a Performance Manager to understand requirements and transform them into working reporting and stimulating solutions. What you’ll be responsible for Work directly with Performance Manager and business stakeholders and other IT team members, to create/gather BI requirements and negotiate BI solutions Design and develop complex BI solutions, from back-end components and processes, and front-end user-interaction components using the Azure development toolset Create and modify SQL Server database artefacts, including tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures, using DDL. Create deployment scripts Ensure Data Warehouse, Reporting and Visualisations are maintained and supported in line with ITIL orientated processes Create, manage, monitor, and optimise SSIS ETL packages Providing advice and support to a range of key stakeholders on variable issues relating to business reporting and mandatory KPI’s Ensure that there is the continuity of Business system reporting via methods of appropriate backup, restoration and availability procedures Key Skills Extensive SQL Query development for processes and reporting Knowledge and experience of data warehouse design concepts such as star and snowflake schema design, and slowly changing dimensions Experience of MS SQL tools including SSMS, SSRS and SSIS Troubleshoot and correct SSIS packages Write SQL and develop stored procedures rapidly, using T-SQL Experience of visualisation platforms and services (preferably Power BI) Experience of management / administration of a Microsoft SQL RDBMS Knowledge of back-up routines and disaster recovery principles A detailed understanding of relational database management systems Experience of Source Control
