Overview

Our large client in Pontypridd are looking to recruit an experienced Data Warehouse Engineer for a 6 month Fixed Term Contract . You will be responsible for working in a small Applications team to develop top-to-bottom BI cloud hosted system solutions, with a speciality in ETL development and support using Microsoft SSIS and T-SQL. Key Responsibilities: Work directly with Performance Manager and business stakeholders and other IT team members, to create/gather BI requirements and negotiate BI solutions. Design and develop complex BI solutions, from back-end components and processes, through-and-including front-end user-interaction components using the Azure development toolset. Create and modify SQL Server database artifacts, including tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures, using DDL. Create deployment scripts. Ensuring Data Warehouse, Reporting and Visualisations are maintained and supported in line with ITIL orientated processes Create, manage, monitor, and optimise SSIS ETL packages. Manage and monitor job schedules Providing advice and support to a range of key stakeholders on variable issues relating to business reporting and mandatory KPI's. Contributing to the overall performance and achievement of objectives for the Infrastructure & Technology team Ensuring that there is the continuity of Business system reporting via methods of appropriate backup, restoration and availability procedures Technical Skills & Experience: Ability to train and/or explain tasks to others Ability to solve problems in a logical manner Willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge Ability to communicate effectively with a range of key stakeholders Extensive Structured Query Language (SQL) Query development for processes and reporting (3 Years Minimum) Knowledge and experience of data warehouse design concepts such as star and snowflake schema design, and slowly-changing dimensions Experience of MS SQL tools including SSMS, SSRS and SSIS Troubleshoot and correct SSIS packages Write SQL and develop stored procedures rapidly, using T-SQL Experience of visualisation platforms and services (preferably Power BI) A detailed understanding of relational database management systems Experience of management / administration of a Microsoft SQL RDBMS Knowledge of back-up routines and disaster recovery principles Experience Source Control Our client offer an excellent working environment, along with a competitive salary and benefits.
