Prospero Teaching are looking for candidates with a Youth Work background to take on the role of cover supervisor and provide short-term and long term supply cover in various secondary schools in the Birmingham area. Bookings can range from one week to the full academic year. What does being a Cover Supervisor entail? As a Cover Supervisor you will be required to go into Secondary School classes and lead lessons in the absence of the teacher. All the work will be left for the pupils and therefore your role is to introduce the work to the pupils,manage behaviour in the classroom and ensure productivity is as high as possible. Do I need any particular qualifications? Although we are not looking for any qualifications in particular we do ask that you are able to demonstrate experience of working with young people. Up-to-date Safeguarding training is also imperative; you can undertake a free course with Prospero Teaching if you have not completed a Safeguarding course in the last 12 months. To be a cover supervisor the ability to work with young people and get them 'on side' is key - this is why we recruit individuals with backgrounds in youth work Personality is also important as young people will respond better to candudates with a bit of personality. Is this full time or part time work?
