Job Description Solution Architects provide consultancy, analytical capability and design expertise to enable Rank to specify and deliver a growing portfolio of IT projects They are trusted technology partner to the business, supporting innovation and guiding stakeholder decision making from feasibility analysis through to delivery of solutions via strong influencing skills. They are SMEs for Rank’s digital gaming, web, mobile, CRM and data management platforms, and are responsible for identifying and championing technology changes to those platforms that enable the business to deliver its strategic goals. They lead the project technical design process to ensure that technical solution designs are of high quality, make appropriate use of emerging technology and support the strategic goals of the business. Qualifications Work with business, development, data and infrastructure SMEs to design and implement bespoke technology solutions. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Rank’s digital and retail platforms, content management system, mobile apps, payment systems, web analytics, loyalty, CRM and data systems. Create strong relationships across the operational and technology community, and influence business planning and decision making. Create and communicate a vision for Technology Architecture, ensuring full buy-in across the business & technology community and aligning technology programmes and service initiatives to that vision. In consultation with senior business and IT stakeholders, develop and own technology roadmaps that deliver strategic digital and omni-channel capabilities. Take ownership of a Solution Design and communicate it to all members of a project team. Convey technical, architectural, functional and impact and risk elements of the design to technical and non-technical members. Derive solution non-functional requirements from business requirements and standards, create acceptance criteria and govern delivery quality. Make risk/value assessments of high-impact design decisions, and propose a range of appropriate solutions with full technical and business impact assessments. Contribute towards designing solution quality testing frameworks to enable performance testing, stress/load testing, functional testing and security testing Establish a forward-looking view of emerging technologies that can be leveraged by Rank to add business value Work across multiple projects, prioritizing tasks efficiently & working with multiple stakeholders. Identify and mitigate technical debt. Create architectural standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of Solution Architecture practices within Rank. Ensure that the Digital Architecture is fully aligned with and supports the development of the overall Rank technology architecture Additional Information Core: Extensive relationship building, influencing and negotiating skills across all levels - including executive level stakeholders. Ability to understand and model complex business and technology requirements, and create robust, extendable Use of markup languages such as UML to depict complex software solutions. Knowledge of TOGAF / Zachman / other EA frameworks Agile epic/user story creation and Behavior Driven Development Good understanding of current application development, project management (Agile/Prince) and service delivery methodologies Record of delivering software and systems integration solutions within a complex business Service oriented architecture and microservices Data storage including SQL, NoSQL, Graph DBs, distributed caches SOAP/REST web service design, messaging systems (MSMQ or Service Bus) Web infrastructure including DNS, CDN, PKI, OpenID Connect, IaaS/PaaS in Azure or AWS. Strong development experience. Advantageous: Multichannel customer facing systems architecture Enterprise development stacks such as .NET, J2EE preferably in a SoA environment
