Overview
A unique opportunity to join a successful and growing conservation charity Project Finance Officer Salary £21,000 per annum The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) is looking for a full-time Project Finance Officer on a fixed term contract until the end of March 2021. Your role will be to assist with the management of the financial activities for our National Lottery Heritage funded ‘Pollinating the Peak’ project, to assist with the management of the financial activities for our funded projects and to assist with the day-to-day management of the Trust’s financial activities in terms of restricted funds. In addition, you will provide financial information on restricted funds, advice and support to project staff and external stakeholders. The role of the Finance Team is crucial in ensuring that the Trust is sustainable, fit for purpose, and able to respond quickly to challenges and change. As Project Finance Officer, you will be part-qualified as an Accounting Technician or equivalent (or with relevant experience). Experience in working within a financial setting in a charity/not for profit sector and of financial reporting to Funders would be highly advantageous. A good communicator and team-worker, you will have the ability to interpret and convey financial and grant information to non-finance members of staff. You will have the ability to deal with confidential and complex financial information, have attention to detail and be able to work to strict deadlines. With excellent IT skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, experience with Sage Accounts software would be highly advantageous. Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details of the role. This is a full-time post, initially fixed until 31st March 2021 based at the Trust’s offices in Stirling. The closing date is 12 noon on Monday 20th April 2020. Job Title: Project Finance Officer Reporting to: Finance Manager (FM) Hours: This is a full-time (35 hours a week) initially one-year short term contract. (Potential extension based on project development). Based at the Trust’s offices in Stirling Job purpose: • To assist with the day-to-day management of the Trust’s financial activities in terms of restricted funds • To assist with the management of the financial activities for specific funded projects. • To provide financial information on restricted funds, advice and support to project staff and external stakeholders Main responsibilities: Income (restricted) • Generate sales invoices in relation to restricted funds • Credit control • Assist with producing income reports when required Expenditure (restricted) • Input all restricted expenditure onto Sage, ensuring correct coding used • Process purchase invoices for projects • Process expense claims for project staff and volunteers • Process internal recharges for projects • Prepare payments for project expenditure on online banking • Process transactions for projects from credit and debit cards onto Sage • Goods receipting Project Financial Monitoring • Assist with project budget preparation and variance analysis as required • Assist Finance Manager with breakdown of restricted fund balances quarterly & at year-end • Assist Finance and Fundraising Managers by providing up-to-date info on project funding Grants and funding • Provide financial information to assist with grant applications, funding bids and grant reporting • Assist the Finance Manager with preparation of grant claims & financial reports to funders • Liaise with project managers in relation to grants to ensure reporting deadlines are met • Liaise with and provide information to the Senior Project Development Officer for funding purposes • Gather financial information required for new funding applications General • Work closely in a small Finance Team and provide cover for duties as required. • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of management reports and budget forecasts. • Assist the Finance Manager with the support and training of Finance Assistants. • Contribute to the overall outputs of the BBCT team and carry out duties with due regard to the well-being and safety of others at all times. • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the nature of the post as deemed appropriate and by agreement with the Finance Manager.
