Please note: To be considered for this role you must be UK resident living and working in the country at time of application My client is an award-winning design and manufacturing business based near Bedford with great history in the packaging sector and has built a reputation for providing innovative and creative sealing solutions to the dairy and beverage industry as well as food, pharmaceutical and personal care. They have strong global partnerships with packaging manufacturers and equipment builders. This exciting new position for an Engineering Buyer is a new role and requires the successful candidate to play a pivotal role in driving Procurement Activity across the business. Introduction: The post holder main objectives will be to negotiate and place orders for machined components and other direct and indirect products, ensuring that delivery and quality requirements are maintained by suppliers in order to meet project deadlines. This is a varied role and my client is looking for a candidate who has worked within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment in a procurement role ideally with an Engineering qualification, the person will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of Manufacturing processes. It is important that the candidate is a team player and can build strong working relationships with the supply chain and internal departments. Responsibilities: ? Requesting for quotations. ? Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve cost reductions. ? Analysing quotations and selecting suppliers. ? Working with suppliers to organise the return of any faulty parts ? Leading technical review meetings with suppliers. ? Raising purchase orders. ? Maintaining and developing relationships with supply base. ? Expediting orders, ensuring delivery dates achieved. ? Supporting the Purchasing Manager in the implementation of new purchasing strategies. ? Creating and maintaining supply agreements. ? Resolving invoice queries with accounts team. ? Assisting the development of all core key suppliers and maintaining supplier KPI’s in accordance to the Purchasing Managers direction. ? Driving forward quality improvements and compliance within the supply base. Skills & Knowledge: ? Proven purchasing experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment. ? Understanding of engineering drawings. ? Ability to independently problem solve and make decisions. ? Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience in ERP/MRP systems. ? Highly organised with strong attention to detail. ? Job specific proficiency and good working knowledge of standard practices and procedures. ? Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. ? Ability to organise and prioritise workloads. ? Ensuring a professional approach is undertaken with all suppliers. ? MCIPS or working towards. Additional requirements: ? Driving licence. Workplace environment: ? Primarily office based in Bedford with occasional supplier visits within the UK.
