Overview

Our Sutton based Financial Outsourcing Team require a talented and driven, qualified accountant with a passion for innovation to assist in managing and delivering high quality finance functions for their clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the oversight and delivery of an outsourced finance function for our clients, including support with payment runs, delivering management reporting packs, VAT returns, and cash-flow forecasts for manager/partner review. Responsibilities will also include documenting current state client processes and identifying improvements for future state operation, providing interim and emergency support to clients along with business insights whilst training and developing more junior members of the team. Assisting with writing proposals and the on-boarding of new clients will also form part of the role. We are looking for an individual who can exceed client expectations through the provision of high quality, technology enabled solutions, acting as their main point of contact for the day to day delivery of services with the ability to work under pressure and within tight timeframes. Clients The Financial Outsourcing team in Sutton is part of the national accounting and outsourcing (AOS) service line and we work collaboratively with our colleagues across the UK and internationally to provide tailored solutions to clients of all sizes from start-ups through to international groups In the UK this involves working with our colleagues in other service lines, especially Tax and Audit, to ensure a professional, joined up service is received by our clients. The Sutton team has grown over the last 15 years from a small team of 5 to over 50 people today which provides opportunities to grow and develop in a challenging but supportive environment. Our Sutton AOS team operates across all our important strategic markets, though this role will focus predominantly in our Industry & Services and Financial Services markets. These clients have a corporate mindset, where robust processes and adhering to strict schedules are a standard expectation, along with delivering an output of the highest quality. Job Role The successful candidate will be responsible for: • Providing an outstanding, quality, outsourced finance function to our clients • Taking ownership and responsibility for scheduling assignments and dealing with your clients, escalating to your Manager as required • Attending regular client meetings to update on delivery and to discuss potential scope changes • Documentation of current client processes, and identifying and documenting future state processes to improve efficiency and quality of delivery • Preparing monthly and quarterly management reporting some of which are complex in nature • Preparing and reviewing client payment runs for submission for final action by clients • Preparation and review and review of VAT returns • Monitoring and training junior members of the team to ensure that bookkeeping records are ready in time for management accounts and VAT preparation • Planning and monitoring own work load and the teams to ensure strict client deadlines are met • Supporting the writing of proposal documents and other development activities to grow your client portfolio • Contributing to national AOS initiatives and projects • Communicating effectively with our other service lines and Mazars internationally to ensure a joined up, effective delivery solution for clients • Keeping manager/partner informed of progress and any issues arising Person Specification We anticipate that this role is best suited to a qualified accountant, with 1-2 years’ post qualified experience from a management accounting or practice background. The successful candidate must have a sound knowledge and experience of: • Xero & related apps • Management accounts preparation and month end close processes • FRS102 & IFRS • VAT • Microsoft Office software especially Excel (intermediate/advanced), Teams, Word and Outlook We are also looking for someone with the following qualities: • Good attention to detail and able to work efficiently and accurately to tight timescales • Strong technical knowledge • Pro-actively identifies client needs and keeps them and internal stakeholders informed of project status as appropriate • Strong interpersonal and client handling skills • Committed to delivering to agreed client deadlines • Strong numerical and IT skills, particularly the ability to pick up new accounting systems • Actively seeks to learn, enhancing expertise and knowledge • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels • Takes ownership of projects, and takes responsibility for quality control • Acts as a role model for the team and values others expertise • Provides assistance and shares experiences with others • Participates in meetings, providing information and ideas with clarity and persuasiveness • Good written and verbal communication skills • Willing to learn and be keen and committed in a working environment
