Java Developer / Software Engineer (Java GUI Linux Web interfaces). Are you a fiercely ambitious Java Developer looking for an opportunity to take full ownership of Java development in a world-leading company? You'll be granted the agency to drive development as you see fit, working with up to the minute technologies in a 35 hour flexible work week. The business is dedicated to producing first-rate instrumentation used across the pharmaceutical industry. They are only seeking the brightest Java Developers to join them as they embark on an exciting development project, powered by bleeding-edge technology and science. As a Java Developer, you'll play a critical role in building a brand new web GUI to replace the existing Java Swing GUI. You'll be granted the agency to take the reins on the direction of development, acting as the in house Java expert and driving the major refactor of the existing Java code base. This Java Developer role would suit someone with a keen interest in ground-breaking software and science, keen to keep pace with emerging technologies and take full ownership of their work. You'll work with a solid tech stack including Java in a Linux environment. Requirements: Degree educated (2.1 or above, BSc, MSc, PhD) from a Red Brick University Strong Java 8 (or later) language and library skills, including collections Good working knowledge of developing with web technologies, e.g. Java Spring, HTML, Bootstrap Good experience with web-based software Desirable: experience with OOD / Unit testing / genuine interest in chemistry and emerging technologies As a Java Developer you'll earn a highly competitive salary (to £45k) plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous holiday allowance, pension contribution and flexible working around the core hours (Mon - Thurs 0900 - 1500, Fri 0900 - 1300).
