Overview
Software Engineer / Java Developer (gui linux web interfaces). World-leading company is seeking a tech-driven Software Engineer to enhance their capabilities as they embark on an exciting Greenfield project. In this Software Engineer role, you'll be granted the agency to drive development as you see fit, taking full ownership of your work with up to the minute technologies in a 35 hour flexible work week. The business is dedicated to producing first-rate instrumentation used across the pharmaceutical industry. They are only seeking the brightest Software Engineers to join them as they embark on an exciting development project, powered by bleeding-edge technology and science. As a Software Engineer you'll play a critical role in building a brand new web GUI to replace the existing Java Swing GUI. You'll be granted the agency to take the reins on the direction of development, acting as the in house Java expert and driving the major refactor of the existing Java code base. This Software Engineer role would suit someone with a keen interest in ground-breaking software and science, keen to keep pace with emerging technologies and take full ownership of their work. You'll work with a solid tech stack including Java in a Linux environment. Requirements: Degree educated (2.1 or above, BSc, MSc, PhD) from a Red Brick University Strong Java 8 (or later) language and library skills, including collections Good working knowledge of developing with web technologies, e.g. Java Spring, HTML, Bootstrap Good experience with web-based software Desirable: experience with OOD / Unit testing / genuine interest in chemistry and emerging technologies As a Software Engineer you'll earn a highly competitive salary (to £45k) plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including generous holiday allowance, pension contribution and flexible working around the core hours (Mon - Thurs 0900 - 1500, Fri 0900 - 1300).
