Overview

Our client is a worldwide manufacturing organisation looking for a High Voltage (HV) Laboratory Materials Technician to join their Engineering Department. The selected individual will be responsible for undertaking materials testing and developing HV cables/accessories within the HV Laboratory. This role is a permanent, staff position based in Bishopstoke, Hampshire. Working Hours: 39 hours per week Job requirements and responsibilities: Setting up the apparatus to defined specifications Undertake calibration, prepare samples and undertake the testing, recording and reporting accurately Safe operation of complex materials test equipment Coordinate with the lab manager to ensure successful test completion Carry out weekly safety checks Finite planning of tests in line with the general schedule Liaise with the UK internal department on availability of materials Read, interpret and become familiar with BS, EN and IEC testing standards Set up and perform material tests Monitor all tests and accurately record results Write technical reports Liaise with customers on technical queries Participate in the development of cable accessories Control the purchasing of materials Manage annual calibrations of test equipment (including equipment removal) Coordinate plant maintenance activities Participate in site examinations in case of technical problems or queries Person requirements and Qualifications: Educated to a HNC or above in a technical discipline Ideally have practical experience in materials testing or laboratory processes Good compute skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes Be self-motivated and have good manual/practical skills Have high safety awareness Strong organisational skills and ability to work on own with minimal support Company Benefits: 25 days holiday plus 8 statutory bank holidays Contributory pension scheme: employee (4%) and employer (up to 8%) On site car parking For more information, please contact Ashley Clarke on 02392 603030 or email ashley.clarke blueprintrecruit.com and quote 18840 AGC.
