Because we want you to get off to the best start with us, we are giving you an extra £250 when you join us. When you are settled in in 6 months’ time, we will give you an extra £250 for your hard work We are looking for passionate, professional and dedicated employees to work with children and young adults with autistic spectrum disorders and challenging behaviour. As a member of our residential care team, you will strive to bring out the best in every young person by supporting and guiding them in their daily lives. This could be in the form of helping the young person at school, accompanying them to take part in an activity (walking, horse riding, trampolining, Duke of Edinburgh etc.) or simply assisting them in completion of general daily tasks, including morning and night time routines. The homes operate a rolling rota which indicates your shift patterns for the following 12 weeks. A typical early shift would be 07:30-16:00 and a late shift 15:30-22:00. You will work a combination of early and late shifts as assigned by the house manager. We also offer the opportunity to earn an additional £35 for a sleep-in shift, as well as the possibility of overtime. Most of our young people attend Oliver House School, an independent specialist day and residential school for children aged 6 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders and associated complex learning needs and challenging behaviour. Our aim is to enable every young person to have positive experiences and progress according to their individual abilities. The desired outcome is for them to achieve success in accredited qualifications and to gain increased levels of independence in order to maximize their strengths, abilities and ambitions. Candidates should be: Patient, sociable and empathetic, in order to establish good relationships with our young people based on confidence, trust, understanding and mutual respect Prepared to deal with challenging behaviour which may be exhibited by a young person at any time for any number of reasons Willing to assist in household maintenance tasks such as cleaning in order to maintain the high level of cleanliness expected within the children’s homes.
