Overview

The Lead Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise within the Land domain of Leonardo with a focus on Electro-Optic/Camera integrated systems on vehicle platforms. The successful candidate must have significant experience in all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and be able to coordinate existing knowledge and data on current programmes as well as providing technical support to develop concepts, architectures and define system designs - taking these forward to implementation, integration, test and evaluation and ultimately production. The successful candidate would be leading Systems Engineering activity upon projects associated with both internally funded products as well as products directly deliverable to key customers within short timescales. The successful candidate would be joining a dedicated team with a full and stretching workload. Key Responsibility Areas Lead the technical aspects of the equipment integration and development programme to satisfy customer needs. Technical lead for the coordination and management of technical work breakdown packages. Writing of technical management and execution plans aligned to company framework processes. Technical leadership and development of Systems Engineering teams. Supporting the development of current and future Systems architectures/designs (including Systems of Systems) and their implementation. Robust capture and review of design artefacts as appropriate for all stages in the engineering lifecycle appropriate for managing existing systems and for taking concepts through to production. Ability to represent Leonardo as the technical Lead in discussions / meetings with Customer representatives - programme, technical, engineering support and user /operator Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required Essential: Experience of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, from development and management of requirements (using DOORS) through to acceptance testing. Awareness of Functional analysis and Specification development. Conducting, analysing and reporting of qualification testing to support design certification. Natural ability to work with other disciplines and external suppliers/customers . Desirable: Previous experience working with Electro-Optical Systems, daylight/colour/thermal imaging cameras and range finding. Previous experience working on platform integration systems. Experience working on Bids & Proposals and knowledge of military, UK and international specifications and standards is highly desirable.
