Overview

In this broad, exciting and challenging Electronic Engineering role, you will be working within an Integrated Project Team across a range of projects throughout various stages of the product lifecycle from initial concept development through to early life production support and on to support of existing fielded designs. You will be mentoring, coaching and developing other Electronics Engineers and may be undertaking a lead technical role within the project involving varied disciplines. You will be supporting the Head of Electronics Engineering and helping to develop the future direction of the Electronics function. You will ensure that the requirements of the proiect are met in a timely and efficient manner. Key Responsibility Area Actively contribute to a culture of best practice sharing, knowledge exploitation and process improvement in order to develop longer term capability and expertise within the engineering function and across the wider business Personally coach and mentor others within your team to ensure clear development of self and team. Translate customer requirements into clear design solutions and specifications. Develop, monitor and tailor processes, tools and technologies in order to contribute to business unit/functional policy. Operate as a locally acknowledged expert within your field or discipline in order to ensure technical solutions are robust, innovative and in line with customer and Leonardo expectations. Make technical decisions and mitigate technical risk within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority. Manage the team effectively, through planning, allocation and reporting of work in order to ensure team size and capability mix is optimised for successful delivery of the work package. Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required Typically meets the requirement for registration of a professional body (CEng). Broad experience of the majority of the lifecycle phases. Broad knowledge of tools and processes, used in the design, development and delivery of products. Ability to influence and drive change within the business. In-depth expertise within at least one technical discipline/domain, and a working knowledge of related disciplines. Ability to influence and drive change with customers and suppliers. Broad experience of managing resources Experience of creating engineering plans ensuring successful delivery of the complete project. First or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electronic Engineering (preferable) or related science (eg Physics) with preferably some specialisation in electronic techniques. Experience in cabling design, build and installation for land vehicles Strong digital circuity design including designs of boards using complex FPGAs Extensive experience of PCB development tools and process (preferably Mentor Graphics). Experience of DFx (designing for cost, test and manufacturability) Experience in System level and sub-system integration and Debug. Electro-Optics experience beneficial Knowledge of Matlab and Simulink would also be beneficial.
