Scrum Master (Engineering, Safe4, Jira, Confluence) We are actively looking to secure an Scrum Master to join Experis as one of our expert consultants, delivering services to our clients. We are passionate about training, technology and career development. The Role The project is transitioning to a SAFe4 construct. This requires a Scrum Master Service to support the technical teams that deliver NSoIT(D) products and solutions. Scrum Masters provide servant-leadership to the Engineering Project by coordinating, facilitating and guiding agile ceremonies prior to, during and in closing the Project Sprints. The Scrum Master also acts as the Engineering Project liaison with the Engineering Management Team, attending the appropriate governance forums and providing the Programme required Management Information. The Scrum Master is also responsible for authoring and publishing the Engineering Project Closure Reports enabling the Scrum Team to focus on delivery of the Sprint Backlog. Their principle responsibilities include: Guiding the team and organisation on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to customers. Guiding the team on how to get the most out of self-organisation. Guiding the team on self-organising to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks. Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organisation. Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment. Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving. Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information. Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog. Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example. Manage the JIRA board and team tasking. Help improve team efficiency. Manage RAIDO, in liaison with Eng RAIDO Manager, escalating as required to Engineering Management, with impacts, via reporting mechanisms. Feed information back to the team from other teams and management. Liaising with other Agile teams and elements of Engineering. Document control, in liaison with the Document Configuration Manager. Generation of Management Information. Essential Skills & Experience Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory. Excellent skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency. Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.). Experience of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence) to record and document work. Experience of working with Scrum in an Agile or Scaled Agile (e.g. SAFe) DevOps environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas. Competency in MS Office Suite. Desirable Skills & Experience Experience of playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory. Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc. Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games. Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team. Experience in applying a wide variety of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: various Burndown technologies, many Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
