Overview

Acorn is currently recruiting for an experienced Supply Chain Buyer / Material Planner for our client in Portsmouth. Summary of the role To manage on time delivery of customer orders by managing the demand planning, material planning and procurement of a nominated product range. Knowledge & Key Skills: Demonstrable success and 2-3 years' experience in a Supply Chain / Purchasing role. Material planning systems to include MRP, Demand Forecasting, production Scheduling and Inventory Management. Good knowledge of Manufacturing Computer systems ideally including SAP. Excellent IT skills - Excel essential, lotus Notes is desirable. Knowledge of Supplier management for On time delivery Purchasing and Commercial Awareness. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Desirable Qualifications / Education: Educated to HNC/HND or equivalent in either a Manufacturing, Engineering or Business discipline or vocational specific qualification (e.g. IOM Diploma in Production and Operations management, CIPS Foundation / Graduate Diploma) Main duties: Manage all aspects of the SAP procurement for the module to which they are aligned. Communicate up to date delivery information to the global sales offices and be a main contact for sales offices for Lead time and availability queries Using the MRP system to plan the purchase of the materials and components necessary to build the demand orders. Manage the planning data held in the SAP system ensuring parameters accurately reflect current conditions. Monitor & progress suppliers ensuring materials and parts are received on time in line with build schedules and customer commitments. Ensure raw material stocking levels are sufficient to meet customer demand, and to recommend stock holding levels based on changing demand conditions. Manage raw materials, piece parts, kanban and WIP inventory levels to maximise availability whilst minimising holding cost and driving down obsolescence levels. Ensure supplier approval documents are up to date. Reconcile Goods receipt vs Invoice receipt. Support the Manufacturing module attending the daily stand up meetings. Other duties: Take an active role in the supplier management and continuous improvement process both within the team and company wide.
