Overview

IPC Technical Author/Illustrator CAD-IT UK Ltd is presently seeking to fill an IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalogue) Illustrator/Author role. This role will be based at the CAD-IT facility in Northamptonshire on a permanent basis. You will be working primarily within Aerospace. We are looking for someone who has had previous technical illustration and authoring experience in the aerospace industry to join our team and become involved in developing compiling and delivering technical illustrated documentation: Expectations of this r ole As an IPC Technical Illustrator/Author you will be expected to author Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogues as a primary role, however other authoring deliverables across multiple industries may be required.You must have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills, be able to interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way, and have the ability to multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently. An element of travel and some extended remote training on a customer site for familiarisation and project setup will be required. Essential Skills Experience of authoring in an Aerospace environment ATA 2200 (Dita) and associated Aerospace standards Proficient in Microsoft Word (using document templates and styles) Use Microsoft Excel An eye for detail and accuracy in document formatting and layout Good communication skills with all business levels from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources Strong personal skills, able to work within a team Engineering knowledge, able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel A good understanding of how to behave in a customer-facing environment Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100) Desired but not essential Plain English Knowledge of Cortona3D (Rapid Catalogue) would be highly beneficial Experience with Adobe Acrobat DC Experience with 3D Modelling software Knowledge of HTML and web editing Graphic editing experience using Photoshop and Illustrator Tasks Produce and maintain Illustrated Parts Catalogues which will be used by our customers worldwide network Communicate with product development teams and customer Technical Publications teams when issues arise to validate assumptions and obtain information that is not present within databases. This requires excellent people skills, and good written English for email communication Aircraft Maintenance Manual Procedures: Authoring procedures and using CAD modelled graphics to develop timed Aircraft Maintenance Manual procedures Other Documentation: All other ‘ad-hoc’ publications as necessary.
