Senior Technician - Machining/CNC Machining & Fabrication Salary £34,295 to £38,274 The Role As a Machining/CNC Machining and Fabrication Technician working within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing (SEC), you will provide practical and operational support in the Machine shop Laboratory. Your focus will be on our Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery, contributing to the learning experience of the students by providing practical guidance on the use of resources and promoting an excellent understanding of mechanical engineering activities and techniques. You will work with students on their final year and MSc projects, assisting with extra curriculum projects such as Primary Engineer and Formula Student, managing a range of specialist equipment used in the engineering industry. You will ensure the laboratories and the facilities within them are maintained in good order in accordance with health and safety legislation and the manufacturers’ maintenance instructions. The Person You will be an industry professional, who is looking to engage the next generation of engineers in CNC machining and mechanical engineering. You will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual, ready to contribute to the day to day operation and maintenance of the school’s laboratories and to work with students, academics and clients. You will have a demonstrable track record in the field of mechanical engineering and workshop practices. You will be qualified to an appropriate HNC or an equivalent City & Guilds qualification. You will be familiar with workshop practices.
