Youth Group Workers x 2 Location: South Lakeland and Furness, Cumbria Salary: £16,835 per annum, pro rata Contract: Part Time, Permanent Hours: 12 hours per week Do you want to work with Children and Young People and make a difference in their lives? Oaklea are excited to launch our new Children and Young People Team in April 2020 and are looking to add to our Youth Group Team to work within this project in South Lakeland and Furness Oaklea’s Children and Young People team seeks to promote young people’s personal and social development and enable them to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society as a whole. It aims to build resilience and character and gives young people the confidence and life skills they need to live, learn, work and achieve. This approach is at the heart of all of our work. It offers young people safe spaces to explore their identity, experience decision-making, increase their confidence, develop inter-personal skills and think through the consequences of their actions. This leads to better informed choices, changes in activity and improved outcomes for young people. About the Role: Youth Group Workers As a Youth Group Worker, you will be responsible for supporting the Youth Group Leader to deliver our successful youth work across the region. Our youth group work supports Oaklea’s aim of promoting young people’s personal and social development and enable them to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society as a whole. It also offers young people a safe place to explore their identity, experience decision-making, increase their confidence and develop inter-personal skills. This leads to better informed choices, changes in activity and improved outcomes for young people. The successful candidate for the role of Youth Group Worker will be expected; To be enthusiastic and an innovative member of the team. To ensure through appropriate support, enabling and empowerment that young people have fun and explore values, beliefs and ideas within their peer group. Through appropriate support offer a safe space to allow young people to discuss their issues and challenges. To enable young people to develop their voice and influence a place in society. To support the young people who are involved in our clubs, groups and activities. To support the Youth Group Leader to deliver after school clubs and holiday activities. To co-ordinate activities and clubs in the absence of the Youth Group Leader. To have an innovative approach to new ideas. The post will require flexibility as times of working will vary and will include afternoons and weekend support. Car driver is essential. Experience is desirable but not essential as full training and mentoring will be provided.
