Overview

AMG Aluminum is a world-leading provider of aluminum master alloys and grain refiners for the aluminum industry based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. We are looking for someone to join the Metallurgical Laboratory as a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician on a full time permanent basis working a 3 shift pattern. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has a flexible attitude and is able to work well in a team environment. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate their ability to work to deadlines, have good oral and written communication skills. The Role The purpose of the role is to provide testing support to EMD and ensuring material compliance with internal and external specification. Duties: To carry out preparation and inspection of Aluminium product (including grain refining tests, metallographic inspection, tensile testing and preparation of samples for chemical analysis) To assist in in house trials when required. To report results on PALS, spreadsheets and in writing Scheduling and implementation of supplementary tests (chemical, metallographic etc.) To provide metallographic support to production GRT Al qualification To aid improvement process technician where required To carry out tests linked to customer complaint investigation/corrective action implementation, also benchmarking samples Spectrometer routine control checks samples filing Tensile testing Raw material evaluation and trials (involving dissolution tests) This position requires working shifts and flexibility The Person The candidate should have: Molten metal experience FLT and Overhead Crane experience Organisational and communication skills, written and verbal Good time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines Good IT Skills A flexible attitude to both duties and hours The ability to adapt to changing to do list work demands/tasks The Package As well as a competitive salary and benefits package, AMG offer a long term career and development to candidates who bring drive and ambition Benefits include: Westfield Health Cover Generous pension scheme Access to out onsite gym with a range of weight and exercise equipment Free onsite car parking
