Overview - Business Analyst, Bristol Client Site The role of a business analyst is to work closely with clients to investigate business situations, and then identify and evaluate options for improvements to systems and operations. The business analyst applies appropriate techniques (requirements management, process improvement, functional analysis, etc) to define, manage and support implementation of effective solutions to business issues. The business analyst can be asked to investigate a wide variety of business problems, with typical expectations outlined below. Stakeholder engagement and management Ability to lead a small team of Business Analysts (Applied Intelligence and/or client) working on a specific work area and coach others when needed Ability to perform stakeholder analysis, mapping influence, impact and commitment of each stakeholder Ability to build and maintain good relations with clients Leads the client engagement for specific areas of work, applying Applied Intelligence standard approaches where appropriate Ability to plan and facilitate effective workshops Identifies potential benefits, and available options for consideration Requirements management Selects appropriate techniques for the elicitation of detailed requirements taking into account the nature of the required changes, established practice and the characteristics and culture of those providing the requirements Discovers and analyses requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate Obtains formal agreement by stakeholders and recipients to scope and requirements and establishes a base-line on which delivery of a solution can commence Manages requests for and the application of changes to baselined requirements Identifies the impact on business requirements of interim (e.g. migration) scenarios as well as changes to programme scope Assesses, analyses, develops, documents and implements changes based on requests for change Business process improvement Ability to build complex process maps, at a range of different levels, and communicate these effectively to a range of different audiences Ability to apply a range of process design tools and techniques Ability to identify the most appropriate process re-engineering approach, based on matching the advantages and disadvantages of various approaches with the client's specific circumstances Able to understand, capture and evaluate both 'pain points' and ideas for improvement, prioritising possible improvements and obtaining buy-in for an improvement plan Work with the client to help implement process change as appropriate Experience and qualifications required Some experience in the majority of the expectations outlined above is required A recognised qualification in Business Analysis is desirable but not essential (e.g. BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis) Travel As a Consultant, you may be required to work on client sites which are away from your base location - this can be for an extended period of time.
