Building services/Maintenance Engineer - Luton £36,000 basic, plus a £1000 per annum on call allowance. 80% building and 20% production maintenance This is an opportunity to join a company in Luton, that has been established since the 60's. They specialise in packaging, and the environment is clean, modern and very organised. IPAF trained essential. Hours: No nights - mornings/days/afternoons Sunday to Saturday 5 out of 7 days, on a fixed rota system, plus any other days and hours occasionally required to fulfil the requirements of the job to a standard which is satisfactory to the company. This will include working at the weekend and bank holidays and out-of-hours call outs. Duties of the Maintenance Engineer: To effectively process, carry out and monitor site preventative maintenance, breakdowns and repairs. Single and 3 phase work on electrical panels, and can read electrical drawings To troubleshoot, repair and maintain a wide variety of electro/ mechanical machinery. To carry out repairs and maintenance on large plant refrigeration, fire and alarm systems, etc. To carry out general factory/building maintenance work on equipment and premises. Maintain accurate records in a timely manner. Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, providers and customers in order to maximise co-operation. Provide specialist knowledge to identify problems and patterns and help find solutions and resolve issues promptly. Ensuring that all processes and procedures comply with operational and statutory requirements. Compliance with company health and safety policy, procedures, working practices, risk assessments. Ensuring that all accidents/ incidents and near misses are reported. Support team members in role-specific and standard operating procedures and safe working practices. Ensuring accurate information is communicated in a timely and effective manner across all areas of the business. Making cost-effective and informed decisions within the jobholder’s level of authorisation and competence. Adapting to the changing requirements of the business and adopting a flexible approach to changing duties and activities as required or directed and promoting such culture in team members and colleagues. Carry out any other duties necessary with a willingness to be flexible with working hours to respond to the needs of the company. Pro-active in the development of self and undertake training consistent with developing skills relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the role.
