If you thrive on hands-on problem-solving and being part of a close-knit team, this could be the ideal role for you The Role - Quality and Environmental Manager: Reporting to the Plant Director and as a key member of the Senior Management team, this role will be responsible for leading, supporting and managing the Quality and Environmental activities on this fast-paced site. Managing and maintaining the systems and processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality in our products and service. Taking a proactive approach to driving product quality, ensuring exceptionally high standards are consistently met, and leading the business forwards as it strives to achieve World Class standards. As the Quality and Environmental Manager, you will have hands-on responsibility for: Driving and supporting the Quality and Environmental processes and procedures across the site (80/20 ratio) Identify, lead and facilitate product quality initiatives across the site; Developing processes in line with world class manufacturing standards; enabling the business to deliver sizable growth opportunities; Proactively developing, implementing and continuously improving manufacturing processes and / or methods of manufacture; Capturing and analysing data to demonstrate the current and future capability of manufacturing processes, including the analysis of OEE and SPC data; Appling Lean and Six Sigma techniques to identify, support and lead improvement projects to drive our continuous improvement culture; Leading and co-ordinating problem-solving activities as required involving operators and managers across the site; Ensuring Quality and Environmental procedures, processes and practices and controls are effectively developed, implemented and maintained; Ensure that all products represent the maximum quality and reliability attainable; Active participation in ensuring product issues are promptly investigated and adequate corrective/preventative actions implemented in a timely manner; Review and approval of technical documents; To work with the Engineering, Manufacturing and RD during product development to ensure that quality and service are at the forefront of or designs; play an active role in NPI to ensure all QA standards are in place develop and ensure quality, regulatory and management reports are accurate and delivered within agreed timelines Supervising 3 direct reports. The ideal candidate will: Be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering; Have an Engineering manufacturing background; ideally but not essentially with an electronics bias; Have experience of auditing third party suppliers: Be experienced in working in an ISO9001 and ISO14001 environment; Have good commercial awareness; Have demonstrable experience and skills in handling both customers and suppliers; Previous experience in a management Quality position, within manufacturing (ideally precision engineering) Knowledge and experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC); Be able to demonstrate a proven record of customer focus; Be a hands-on manager working alongside Operations; coaching and developing staff to the highest standards; passing on the passion and commitment to quality, customer service and environment; Will have skills to think both strategically and tactically about how to achieve goals when budgets may restrict resources; Be confident in sharing knowledge and skills into the Leadership team; Great relationship management skills, at all levels, with strong influencing, facilitation and negotiation skills; Ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively; Be an excellent communicator both verbal and written; able to effectively clarify complex situations and deliver effectively information to colleagues at all levels; Have a proven track record of continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other technical improvement techniques; Have excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record in developing the skills and understanding of others; Consistently demonstrate integrity and respect; base decisions on facts and adopt a disciplined approach; inspire and motivate others around you; be a role model; Be able to manage multiple priorities with a bias toward action and speed; Have the focus to search for innovative solutions; drive continuous improvement and constantly raise the bar to stretch your own and other’s levels of achievement; Be self-motivated and possess the facilitation and influencing skills needed in a cross-functional team setting. Location : Leeds Salary : £47K - £57K Benefits (DOE) Contract : Full time, Permanent Hours : 37 hours pw, Day Shift - Monday to Thursday 8am-4.30pm, Friday 8am-1pm
