Overview
Nisa Care are seeking skilled and experienced Support Workers for children and young people with learning disabilities. Job Summary and Duties The position focuses on developing independent life skills through individually designed plans. Following a thorough induction and training your duties would include: · Promoting life skills and independence in the home, helping children and young people develop domestic and personal skills · Encouraging routines and implementing boundaries · Managing complex and challenging behaviour · Documenting all children's activities, reporting and recording critical aspects of their care · To provide guidance, support, advice and compassion for the children in the home, ensuring appropriate levels and standards of individual care · To build positive relationships with the children and offer them unconditional positive regard · To produce and maintain required records as necessary · To undertake training as required · To provide educational support with both formal and informal learning · To be a key worker/co key worker for an individual child, at times this may include advocacy for the child · To ensure the children’s physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual and cultural needs are met · To safeguard and promote the health and welfare of the children in our care · To empower and facilitate the active involvement of the children in the decisions about their life and their future - the child’s voice is important · To provide and maintain a positive, comfortable, caring, nurturing and encouraging environment · To actively support and encourage resilience and confidence · To plan and provide suitable activities Key Skills Required · Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent · Up to date DBS preferably online and Physical Restraint Training · MUST have at least THREE years experience of working with children with complex and challenging behaviour · Keen to work with children with Learning Disabilities including challenging behaviour · Able to work independently and as part of a team · Clear and concise written and verbal communication · Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends and waking nights All applicants must be over 21.
