Overview

Job Description 1.1 To meet the personal care needs of the Resident in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence, privacy, dignity choice and fulfilment 1.2 To help in the care of the Residents physical environment and in the general day to day running of the Home 2 Job Specification 2.1 Thoroughly read the care books/care plans from the end of your last shift to date and receive a handover paying particular attention to specific instructions or changes in the care needs of each resident 2.2 To follow the instructions and guidance set out in care plans for each resident. 2.3 Assist Residents with mobility problems and any other disabilities whilst promoting their independence at all times; adhering to manual handling policies, procedure and risk assessments at all times and ensuring equipment is used in accordance with manufacturers instructions and manual handling training provided. 2.4 To assist residents with dressing, undressing, bathing and toileting as per care plan. Paying particular attention to the management of incontinence. 2.5 Sensitively and sympathetically help care for Residents who are dying, offering moral support to Relatives, Friends, Residents and Staff members. 2.6 Answer call bells promptly, assess and take appropriate action to relieve the 2.7 Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of Residents through talking to them, taking them out and sharing with them in such activities as reading, writing, hobbies, recreation and activities within the Home, Residents, outings and events. 2.8 To help with the following tasks: set tables and trays, serve meals, feed residents who need help, prepare light meals, wash up, tidy and clear the dining room. Change and make beds, tidy bedrooms and do light cleaning duties. Empty and clean commodes, dispose of incontinence sheets/pads in the Bin provided in the correct manner. 2.9 Inspect, launder, iron and mend Residents clothes where possible, ensuring that clothes are labelled; and the Residents clothing is returned to its rightful 2.10 Be observant of changes in a Resident’s mental and physical condition. Report Any changes to the Manager/Assistant Manager/ Officer in Charge. 2.11 Pay particular attention to the importance of good communications, observation, cohesive and respectful teamwork.
