Randstad are looking to recruit a number of Support Workers to work within a young people services. Would you like to make a difference in the lives of young people with Learning Disabilities and Autism? Are you a support worker looking for a fresh opportunity in a growing company? A learning disability affects the way a person understands information and how they communicate. This means they can have difficulty understanding new or complex information, learning new skills and coping independently. It is estimated that around 286,000 young people in the UK has a Learning Disability. Those suffering often require support in order to help them successfully socialise with others and thrive within their community. Offering this support takes an individual with patience, empathy and excellent social skills. We are seeking dedicated, confident support workers to give dedicated support to service users and their families. This support role will give you great job satisfaction, a real feeling that you are changing and making a difference to someone's life. Not only will you be making a difference but you will be working as part of a fantastic and well supported team, that all have the same drive and determination to make a difference. Benefits Include Flexible working hours Full training to be given to enhance shills and knowledge Comprehensive induction Rolling three week rota Responsibilities Include Building relationships with service users and their families Assisting service users with daily care which can include but is not limited to: cooking, personal care and cleaning. Helping these young people to enjoy activities within their local community. Building a positive relationship with these young people will allow you to identify activities that they will love Finding a way that to communicate that works for both you and the young person you're working with is of the utmost importance. This will help to build a relationship and minimise challenging behaviour. Following care plans to help service users reach their goals You will be required to help these young people work through challenging times Providing excellent support for young adults with Autism and learning difficulties The Ideal Candidate Would Have Autism experience Have minimum experience of 6 months working in a residential setting Be patient, sociable and empathetic, in order to establish good relationships with our young people based on confidence, trust, understanding and mutual respect Have worked in a challenging behaviour setting before Willing to perform personal care tasks Be enthusiastic and willing to learn Be prepared to deal with challenging behaviour which may be exhibited by a young person at any time for any number of reasons Be willing to assist in household maintenance tasks such as cleaning in order to maintain the high level of cleanliness expected within the children's homes Have physical intervention experience Be able to deal with challenging behaviour Be willing to complete Level 3 Diploma/award in Health and Social Care in house If you are interested in this fantastic opportunity - please don't hesitate to apply online or alternatively call and ask for James.
