Overview
This small (but growing) independent tax and accountancy firm in Manchester city centre is looking for a qualified professional with a strong background who is keen to progress their career in a mixed tax and accountancy role. There will be a good deal of advisory/project work as well as some statutory and compliance driven services mainly in a supervisory and reviewing capacity. The successful candidate will have experience of all mainstream taxes as they affect entrepreneurs and their businesses which comprise the large majority of this firm’s client base. Most corporate clients are in the £1m to £15m turnover bracket and a detailed understanding of income tax, corporation tax and capital gains tax is essential. The successful candidate will have had some exposure to inheritance tax as well as being proficient in providing accountancy services. The role is likely to be circa 75:25 in favour of tax work. Candidates should be prepared to get involved in practice management involving mentoring and coaching junior staff; working capital management; etc. Opportunities to undertake BD/Marketing activities will be available. A high degree of autonomy will be afforded to the successful candidate to help them to make their mark. Candidates may currently be working in a larger firm and looking to gain some exposure to more varied work and broader responsibilities or they may be at an independent firm and looking for more responsibility. The reward structure is flexible but remuneration and will start around £42,000 but can rise rapidly depending upon successful performance. A bonus structure is offered.
