Overview
The School of Philosophy and Economic Science is recruiting for a full-time Management Accountant to work within our lively and vibrant educational charity, providing Practical Philosophy and Economics courses, based in Central London. This is a new role developed to support the Finance Manager and to develop and improve budget reporting and controls within the charity. The main responsibilities are: The generation and co-ordination of Annual Budgets and Forecasts for all the School’s activities, excluding those of our trading subsidiary Waterperry Gardens Limited and the regional Branch operations The production of summary Management Accounts by major business segment showing actual performance to Budget with a commentary on causes of variances The construction and implementation of monthly budgetary expense controls, and production of regular reports to show actual performance to Budget / Forecast The communication of these reports to key Budget expense holders and the Executive committee to include recommended actions to be taken Review of the School’s funds and a twelve-month rolling Cash forecast of requirements Additional responsibilities Assisting with the annual Audit of the organisation, including supporting the Finance Manager in preparing the financial statements Cross-training roles with Finance Manager and Assistant Accountant to provide cover during busy periods or team member absence. The Person The successful candidate will be self-motivated and organised, will demonstrate strong IT skills, and has the patience and communication skills to work within a busy team and with our long-term students. They will be energetic and a problem-solver. The minimum requirements for this role are qualified or studying for CIMA/ACCA/ACA, with at least a year's experience of working in an accounts department. Experience of sales ledger/purchase ledger, VAT, and payroll would also be useful but not essential.
