Sole Legal Counsel - Fintech / iGaming Excellent salary and package London Our client is an exciting fintech / igaming company that has enjoyed a rapid rise and is now entering an exciting new point in its growth trajectory. They offer a unique product that is disrupting the sports betting sector. If you are a keen sports fan, and in particular a fan of football, then this could be a dream opportunity for you. Role: This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious candidate to become our client’s first permanent in-house Legal Counsel. The candidate will be working on number of exciting IP & Commercial, Gambling, Employment, Corporate and specialist Finance issues. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in taking the business to the next level in the UK, as well as its expansion into Germany and other global markets during 2020 and beyond. Advising the board and other senior management on legal implications of the company’s major decisions, strategies and transactions Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts: o Software, data and other IT service agreements (e.g. SaaS, SLAs, platform subscriptions etc) o Digital content suppliers and payment providers o Marketing related agreements, including sponsorship and promotions o General commercial contracts Drafting, reviewing and advising on the implementation of the platform’s own Terms of Use, Game Rules and other promotional T&Cs Assisting the compliance team in identifying and dealing with suspicious, abusive or banned customers Advising the marketing department in relation to advertising and marketing activities (including gambling promotions and prize draws) and reviewing/clearing advertising materials (TV, radio, editorial etc) Managing the company’s IP portfolio and giving general IP advice to the business Dealing with key regulators including UK Gambling Commission, the FA and the UK ICO. Liaising with compliance team and managing external counsel. Staying up to date with changes to legislation Contributing towards legal and commercial strategy and objectives. Requirements To be considered for this unique opportunity you must be a high calibre legal professional with a strong academic background. Experience within the gambling or fintech industries could be of benefit but is not essential. A passion for sport, and football in particular would be desirable. Qualified practicing solicitor of 5-7 years PQE Strong private practice training Proven in-house experience Excellent judgement and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Broad and adaptable legal knowledge (IP & commercial, corporate, gambling, litigation, employment law, etc) High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas If you are excited about the prospect of taking on a key position within this innovative and fast-growing business, then please send your CV and covering information today.
