Technical Authority - Electrical BAE Systems Naval Ships team currently have a vacancy for a Technical Authority for the Electrical team at our site in Glasgow. We are looking for an electrical subject matter expert who will report to the Chief Engineer on the Canadian Surface Combatant programme. This opportunity to join the engineering community and a unique chance to work on an International Programme. BAE Systems' Global Combat Ship has been chosen as the design for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), BAE Systems, CAE, L3 Technologies, MDA and Ultra Electronics have partnered with Lockheed Martin Canada to supply the Royal Canadian Navy of one of the most advanced and modern anti-submarine warships in the world. The role of the Technical Authority is to report on status of the Electrical design to the Chief Engineer, deputise as required, and relay instructions from the Chief Engineer to the Delivery Team They will represent Electrical aspects for the Engineering Management Team at Customer facing technical meetings, with a shared responsibility to deliver fifteen Canadian Surface Combatants that meet the Contract requirements, comply with statutory regulations and are safe to operate. Our Naval Ships team are currently delivering some of the most complex and high-profile Defence programmes export programmes for international customers and the Type 26 programme. As Technical Authority Electrical - Your main responsibilities will involve: In accordance with the formal Delegation of Authority from the CSC Chief Engineer, being responsible for the technical coherence of the evolving CSC Warship Design to ensure the proposed solutions meets the Customer Requirement As part of the CSC Engineering Function Management Team take collective responsibility in setting strategic direction (i.e. CSC Engineering Vision, Strategic Actions and functional priorities), policy, processes and objectives to achieve the overall CSC Engineering scope of work to programme and budget Proactively managing Customer relationship both with LMC and ISI and act as the single point of contact into the BAE Systems CSC team for all Customer engagement; Attending meetings on behalf of the CSC Chief Engineer at the BAE Systems Naval Ships Engineering Council and Contract Status Review (CSR) if required Your skills and qualifications: Experience operating on a large, complex project at engineering management level in a multi-disciplinary, matrix management environment and at all stages of the project including concept, build & support Experienced in Life Cycle Management reviews of bids and programmes Previous experience in an engineering manager or as a technical authority role Experience of managing electrical design, both HV & LV, ideally in a marine environment Has chartered engineer status or working/willing to work towards What we're looking for in you: You will be self-motivated and be an excellent communicator both written and verbally.
