Technical Authority - Integrated Platform Manager Systems (IPMS) BAE Systems Naval Ships team currently have a vacancy for a Technical Authority to join the team as a subject matter expert on Integrated Platform Management Systems (IPMS) at our site in Glasgow. This role will report to the Chief Engineer on the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) programme, presenting an opportunity to join the CSC engineering community and an exciting chance to work on an International Programme. BAE Systems' Global Combat Ship has been chosen as the design for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC). BAE Systems, CAE, L3 Technologies, MDA and Ultra Electronics have partnered with Lockheed Martin Canada to supply the Royal Canadian Navy of one of the most advanced and capable anti-submarine warships in the world. The role of the Technical Authority is to report on status of the IPMS design to the Chief Engineer, deputise as required, and relay instructions from the Chief Engineer to the Delivery Team. The role holder will represent IPMS aspects for the Engineering Management Team at Customer facing technical meetings, with a shared responsibility to deliver fifteen Canadian Surface Combatants that meet the Contract requirements, comply with statutory regulations and are safe to operate. The role holder will also provide engineering and management expertise, and make engineering decisions as required, to progress the project, as well as ensuring stability of the IPMS solution, through design approval, technical and quality assurance. As Technical Authority - IPMS, your main responsibilities will involve: Accountability for technical coherence of the evolving CSC Warship Design - in accordance with the formal Delegation of Authority from the CSC Chief Engineer - to ensure the proposed solutions meet the Customer Requirement Collective responsibility - as part of the CSC Engineering Function Management Team - in setting policy, processes, objectives, and strategic direction (i.e. CSC engineering vision, strategic actions and functional priorities), to achieve the overall CSC Engineering scope of work in line with ship programme and budget Proactively manage Customer relationships with suppliers as well as being the single point of contact into the BAE Systems CSC team for all Customer engagement Attend - on behalf of the CSC Chief Engineer - the BAE Systems Naval Ships Engineering Council and Contract Status Review (CSR), if required Your skills and qualifications: Extensive experience operating on large, complex projects at engineering management level, in a multi-disciplinary, matrix management environment, at all stages of the project including concept, build & support Experienced in bids and programmes Life Cycle Management reviews Previous experience in an engineering manager, or technical authority role Experience working with Electrical/IPMS OEM's - in particular L3 would be desirable Chartered Engineer status, or working/willing to work towards What we are looking for in you: You will be self-motivated and be an excellent communicator both written and verbally.
