Overview
Job Title: Underwriting Fraud Specialist Location: Bournemouth Salary: up to £37,000pa dependent on experience Purpose: Responsible for developing and driving improvements to underwriting fraud prevention processes. Being a subject matter expert for external underwriting fraud and leading complex investigations using risk-based methodologies. You will be leading development of highly competent Underwriting Fraud Investigators, developing and driving underwriting fraud prevention communication and employee development strategies to improve operational capability in respect of external underwriting fraud as well as leading underwriting fraud process improvement and BAU projects. The role will include liaison with a broad spectrum of internal, industry and insurer stakeholders so strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management will be core to the role. Principal Accountabilities: Lead the development of highly competent Fraud Investigators by providing technical advice, support on delivery of BAU activity and audit / coaching activity as required To manage and implement appropriate procedures, ensuring the competence and understanding of employees. Where appropriate identifying training needs and developing staff through guidance and direction on potential fraud issues Liaise with Ageas Stakeholders including Claims, Ecommerce D&P Operations, Fraud & Risk Quality and Claims to control risk quality, minimising premium leakage and combating fraud Lead and develop a communication strategy which supports the business in improving application fraud knowledge and competence Drive improvements in competence and understanding of employees in respect of application fraud, engaging L&D, Compliance and Operational Management where necessary Lead and co-ordinate external investigations as required taking ownership of complex investigations ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement and management takes place Recommend, manage and lead the implementation of improvements in existing anti-fraud processes and controls to mitigate the risk of external underwriting fraud including providing project support ensuring a high level of support and advice is given To recommend, manage and implement effective controls to mitigate the risk of external underwriting fraud in line with brand strategy and risk appetite To develop and maintain a good understanding of the fraud risks facing the industry, with an awareness of the changing measures to combat fraudulent activity and assist with the implementation of relevant procedural changes where appropriate To participate in, and at times lead, projects where required ensuring a high level of support and advice is given Provide analysis on fraud exposure and performance of fraud tools and provide meaningful insight both verbally and through timely reporting to key internal and external stakeholders The jobholder must maintain an up-to-date technical knowledge of anti-fraud policies, legislation and industry practices Skills Required: Educated to at least A Level standard and should hold, or be prepared to work towards obtaining, a relevant counter fraud qualification (e.g. ACIP, ACFE, ACFTech). A CII qualification is also desirable Highly numerate - Must be able to understand, evaluate and interpret complex financial data At least 1 year's general insurance experience in an Underwriting or Pricing function is preferred Excellent analysis skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data and make recommendations Able to produce high quality written work, appropriate for the proposed audience Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative, to strict deadlines and unsupervised Ability to deal with and influence colleagues at all levels of the business Good at probing facts and challenging assumptions.
